What's the difference between cement and concrete?

Think of cement like flour for a cake. It’s an important ingredient, but concrete is the whole finished product made with cement, water, sand, and rocks.

Do I need to take care of my concrete after it's poured?

Concrete is pretty low-maintenance, but there are a few things you can do to keep it looking great for years to come.

Watering it properly while it cures (dries out) is important. Sealing the surface helps protect it from stains and makes it last longer. Also, fixing small cracks quickly will prevent them from getting bigger.

How can I make my concrete look nicer?

Stamped concrete can look like stone, brick, and even wood. Staining lets you add color. Exposed aggregate finishes show off the decorative rocks in the concrete mix, and decorative borders can add a unique element to the concrete as well.

How much concrete do I need for my project?

To figure out how much concrete you’ll need, we need to calculate the volume.

First, measure the area (length times width) in feet. Then, decide how thick you want your concrete to be in inches. Since concrete is usually sold by the cubic yard, we need to convert your inches to feet (divide the number of inches by 12).

Finally, multiply the area in square feet by the thickness in feet to get the volume of concrete you’ll need in cubic yards. This is just an estimate, so for a more precise amount, you can request a quote.

What type of concrete should I use for my project?

The best concrete type depends on what you’re using it for. For example, driveways that get a lot of car traffic need a different kind of concrete than a decorative patio.

We can help you pick the perfect concrete for your project based on things like how much traffic it will get, how water needs to drain off it, and what kind of look you want.

How long will it take to finish my project?

The amount of time it takes to finish a project depends on how big and complex it is. Usually the process of getting it formed up and poured can be done quickly, even within a day or two. Curing the concrete is often the step that takes the longest.

We can give you a more specific timeframe for how long it’ll take your project to finish curing during the quote process.

When can I use my new concrete?

Freshly poured concrete needs time to cure and get strong before you can walk on it. Usually after 24 to 48 hours it will be strong enough to walk on it without leaving marks. After a few weeks you can treat your concrete as fully cured.
